Crypto Currency - Personal Interest Question to Players

Post by sirfoxey »

Howdy All - I just wanted to get some understanding of who here knows about crypto currency, who uses it, who spends their life immersed in it trading it all day for profit etc. I have been actively involved in a crowd funding project for a soon to be released mobile based game which has used crypto currency, the blockchain and counterparty api and chain for their in game assets and premium in game currency are now left with wondering how many people out in the world actually use any or all parts of this new tech.

I've heard that bitcoins exist, but nothing more. I don't live in US, btw :)

I know at a high level how Bitcoins work and some reasons one might use a crypto currency.

But like Twitter, Facebook, smart phones, texting, Tinder, (real-life!) drones and a lot of other "modern things", I've never used them and don't see myself doing so in the future.

Now excuse me while I go crank up my Model T and go for a jaunt....

My knowledge of crypto currency is slightly less than Navile's.

However I have slightly more hands on experience with the first four items of his list and have never driven a car older than Coops.

Never used it, don't want any part of it either. News/media reports tend to portray this whole
thing as very risky, unregulated, and unaccountable to anyone. Acceptance/usage by the general
public appears quite low as well. A couple of major failures resulting in the disappearance of
millions of dollars of value, along with ongoing investigations by some US Federal agencies,
suggest this whole thing is not quite ready for the real world.

Uhh... I mean, I've heard the word "bitcoin" before, but I'm not even really sure what those are? And I've never heard them referred to as "crypto currency" before, nor do I have any clue what that's supposed to mean, so... :|
