I'm not exactly new anymore, but I'm new to this thread.
I found CE by google search. I was looking for a game similar to the role playing game I loved as a kid called Traveler.

I was voting for the game Drakor on bbogd.com and saw Core Exiles at #13 with a high rating and some nice reviews. Figured I would try it out.
