ISN- Water Shortage Stikes Economy

Water, water, everywhere and not a drop to drink. Or at least there used to be. But now a days, there is such a large demand for the precious commodity that some communities are running low.

One cause for this problem has been the development of newer refineries capable of creating the valuable rare ores. The heavy machinery uses large volumes of water in order to cool the huge pistons that create the pressure conditions needed for the materials to form.

Another cause has been the explosion in the Settlement business. The behemoth structures require such vast amounts of materials that they tax existing quantities under normal circumstances.

Jackson Stores, a large distributor of natural resources to the general public has been seeing shortages in their supplies. Such shortages have been sending waves of panic through the Crafting community. Crafters not being able to find a stable source of water are now facing job losses from their customers for not being able to deliver items on time and on budget.

Such a high demand for water has sent prices skyrocketing. The Galactic Buyers Market has been seeing record sales of this item with prices soaring well over the 200 credit price. This is over 14 times the cost that retailer Joes Supplies buys for.

Some are happy about this shortage though. Although water has been listed on the official ORSA extraction list from its induction, a large majority have ignored it. But those who did utilize their industrial extractors on the commodity are now glad they did.

"All those long days, all those small pay checks. This makes it all worth it," commented one lucky captain who had spent months stockpiling water. He is now worth over 300 million credits due to the shortage.

As the water shortage continues, more and more people are beginning to place their extractors on water sites around the universe. Economists for the Galactic Federation say that the prices will eventually settle after the influx of new supplies hits the market, but until then, be prepared to pay higher prices for your water.
