ISN - The Galactic Four

Many have wondered how the Galactic Federations prepared their four vessels for their recent exploration enterprises, curious as to how exactly these vessels discovered what no one else had caught sight of.
Through personal connections, ISN news reporters were able to locate one of the technicians involved in the outfitting and general preparation of the ships. Due to lack of clearance and permission to speak of such GalFed activities, our technician requested that his identity be withheld.

We were told that initially, all GalFed survey vessels were recalled and brought in for general repairs. Four of the finest ships of the fleet were ordered to remain behind. Their captains and crews were kept relatively in the dark regarding GalFed intentions for their ships. The vessels were first stocked with enough life support materials to support one hundred men for six months. Then their scanning systems were removed entirely and refitted with sensitive, new, longer-ranged scanners.

While the scanners were installed, the ships were kept in complete lockdown at a location our contact could not disclose, although he referred to it as a GalFed stronghold. The devices were heavily guarded, and only extremely high-ranking GalFed officials and properly identified technicians were allowed even within viewing distance of the vessels. After 24 hours of intense and complicated labor, the new scanners were equipped. Captains and crews were called back to their vessels and give further technical, scientific, and military personnel.
Each vessel was ordered to the same task in a different region of the outer Sphere systems. Their assignment was to scan the areas carefully and thoroughly and immediately report any and all findings to both GalFed central command and the highest ranking official on board. Once a finding was reported, the ship was to remain in place until joined by GalFed forces accompanied with top jump gate technicians.

While our contact noted that there was no sense of hurry amongst those giving orders or taking them, it was evident to him that there was a hum of excitement and anticipation in the air.

We at ISN news tip our proverbial hats to the efforts of the Galactic Federation.
