exploring the expanse

Hi all,

I've started to explore the expanse..

Is there any functional difference between Basic, Medium and Advanced Astro Drone (survey)?
Besides the survey requirement on usage.. Do I gain any advantage if I use Advanced Drones?

Will I eventually come across a planet that requires higher level Drones to explore..

the more advanced they are, the higher chance they have of success, I think basic drones have roughly a 30% chance of a good event, medium drones have 45% and advanced have 60%

many more drones will be succesful when surveying => coupled with a limited amount of surveys per day this is a huge boost.

also when expanse is involved, expect to lose creds :p

I've found results like:
basic drones - 25% success, means about 50 map points out of 200/day attempts.
adv drones - 50% success, perhaps 100 map points out of 200/day attempts.
Then realize, eventually you will need hundreds, if not thousands, of map points for each system.

Equally important is knowing when to pack up and find a Comm Storage. There are some resources I get from Surveying that I dont care if I lose because I can get them from Combat......However, there are other rarer resources that you don't want to take a chance losing. For example, if you find Alien Quantum Storage, its time to leave and drop your goods before you get the "Angry Javoran" Event or one of the other ones that strip you of your Cargo.

Are we talking about surveying Expanse systems or exploring planets?

I also found that a minos hybrid transporter made life easier

I second that, if you can swing it the range of minos pods you can use in expanse are exelent.
