Superior Head Implant

Post by Oryuken »

To SHI or not to SHI.

There is no question. You need to SHI. :D

SHI stands for Superior Head Implant.
This is a very special head implant or actually a set of implants. You can choose which one is right for how you play. You absolutely want to get one. The game provides a means for you to get one starting at level 40. It is not easy though and you need to start preparing as soon as possible. Luckily, the preparation is mostly just playing the game normally. You collect Data Chip Fragments during many activities in the game. You need to collect a set of all 50 Data Chip Fragments. This is not impossible, especially if you talk to people in the chat. Other players around your level will also be trying to put a set together. Talk with them and trade with each other. Also, other players usually have some that they can help you fill in the set or it is possible to buy completed sets. Once you have all 50 Fragments you need to take them to the NPC, Joey Newton, on Daphine in the Descarte system. He will combine the 50 chips into a set of 5 special Data Chips. They are ESS, NSI, PNI, PTC, and SOR Data Chips. They have complicated names but you will be able to recognize them by the initials. Joey will tell you to take them to Sam Beagle in Anvil, the Darklight system. Sam is going to ask you for those 5 special Data Chips AND 20 locked steel cases better known as LSC. Here is your main problem, because LSC are rare and hard to come by. You may have picked up a few in your adventures up to date. LSCs can be picked up in mining and in combat, the best chance being combat but don’t expect to have them dropping continually. If you are extremely lucky you may have picked up 20 of them by level 40 but it is very doubtful. Again, you need to talk to people. Beg for them, borrow them, buy them or promise a leg for them but you need to get them. They are offered in the Player’s Market or Emporium sometimes. They usually sell for about 1,000,000 credits each though they can be higher (recently higher). If you start preparing early the burden is much less. Once you have your 20 LSC, your 5 Special Data Chips and you are level 40 or above you can get your SHI. Now comes the good part. The SHI enhances five skill sets! Yes, five skill sets with +30 each. You can choose which one is best for you.
The SHI are:
BANSHEE: Scan Tech+30, Survey+30, Refining+30, Mining+30 and Reactor Tech+30
CENTAUR: Production+30, Manufacturing+30, Device Tech+30, Reactor Tech+30 and Survey+30
CHIMERA: Drone+30, Reflective+30, Absorption+30, Missiles+30 and Reactor Tech+30
CYCLOPS: Energy+30, Kinetic+30, Missiles+30, Targeting+30 and Reactor Tech+30
GORGON: Scan Tech+30, Device Tech+30, Jump Drive+30, Negotiation+30 and Reactor Tech+30

Good luck on getting your SHI and remember asking for help is a virtue not a crime.

Just an update on my original post.
Locked Steel Cases are extremely rare now. Therefore the price has gone up to reflect that.
Start preparing early and if you see some for sale then buy them when you can. I personally
have not gotten one in over a year.
