Hello Captain SilverSun, welcome to Core Exiles. Questions: 1) you only have 1 ship, you can upgrade into a better ship after level 20 (I think). Start saving your credits. 2) Hauling (passengers or cargo) is great for credits, combat if you want loot, but mostly whatever you find most interesting....
