Mining Barge Abilities

I removed my hired gun ability to replace it with the Salvage Asteroids ability but now as I have two ability slots open I wanted to put back the hired gun abilty into my second slot but cant for some reason, the slot just stays blank when I try

The first hired gun I think expires at barge level 6, perhaps you out-levelled it?

Ah,ignore that above.
Hired gun is a non-primary ability, meaning it does not use a ability slot. Its just works automatically.
Plus it expires at level 5.

Right, Hired guns (Entry) works for levels 0-5, from lvl 6 you have to have "Hired Gun - Low". and all "Hired Guns" not require ability slot.

Thanks to both of you - I just presumed that because it was there when I started I needed to put it back
