new VIP feature - saved ship load outs

I spend an awful lot of time swapping gear and pods when I switch tasks. I think this could be real popular.

It would be great to have a set of named loadouts that reload everything to a defined pattern.
1) Each named loadout would be a separate VIP purchase.
2) The loadout would include the shiptype plus all the main load out, specials, and pods. Simply select it from a dropdown and poof! the ship is now mining instead of hauling.
3) The loadout can be modified, including: renamed, assigned to a different ship, have any combination of items changed. This allows for getting a new reactor or getting a new ship -- the owner loads up the ship and saves it, now that's what the setting does.
4) There will be a setting to unload all from a ship except the main fuel tank. This is free if a player has at least one named loadout. This is important for a player with multiple ships.

Constraints:
1) The player can not select a setting for one ship while a different ship is activated. The process is: Unload one ship; move to the other and activate it; choose the new loadout.
2) The fuel tank can not be modified when a loadout setting is selected. (Presumably also biofuel pods?) If the player selects a setting with any different fuel tank, the switch is rejected. This keeps the risk/choice of losing fuel directly in the player hands.
So if the player wants to use a black raven pod to save all but 3500 fuel to the depot, it's up to the player to do all the manipulation with removing and equipping tanks.
3) The cargo must be empty when a setting is changed.

I switch between mining and salvaging, which requires changing everything except my Tesla 4 reactor. I would absolutely love this.

another constraint comes to mind:
this would probably operate internally by removing all items from ship then putting on desired items.
So any defense specials would LOSE their health and require refilling before fighting or before another visit to services such as Wesbec

Just to be clear - this 'suggestion' IS a royal minefield of issues. I have considered it more than once but the sheer scale of 'options and caveats and catches' involved have put me off trying to code it up.

But...

Having said that once Starbases are off my cutting room floor - Perhaps and just perhaps we could take a stab at this. Changing loadouts in CE is a Pain (I know) - So anything that would make it easier would be a real boon.

I like the suggestion by the OP here and feel it merits more discussion and thought by YOU the players.

Quick thought, but would things be easier if there were two options, a free/universal "Strip Down Ship" and then the VIP purchased templates, with the latter requiring the former?

The Strip Down Ship option itself would have its usefulness. If the equipment templates require an empty ship (so the OP's idea would require two actions instead of one, still a massive improvement), would that help with the potential issues?

the Strip down ship was #4 in the features, to be given when the first setting was purchased.
I think everyone would love it as a free option to all players.
