Cycles of Chaos

Post by Entropi »

"Chaos is the score upon which reality is written".

So was born Chaos Theory .....

First Cycle

It all looked so idyllic .... and it was .... for the few intermittent hours of darkness, when the eccentric elliptical rotation of this blasted rock brought it under the influence of its nine companion satellites, who some call the Lords of the Night. As the ethereal reddish light of Galerius flees, taking with it some strange essence, the capricious denizens of this planet fall quiescent. One day we must find out why .... but for now the settlement expands in those sporadic bursts of activity, slowly yielding more living quarters and laboratories. Almost two earth months have passed since we landed on this unpredictable world, but finally three sterile cold fusion reactors power the institutes of geo-biology, eco-chemistry and astrophysics. Soon now, another month and the breakthrough may come .... it better do .....

Second Cycle

Many months have now passed and the foibles of the capricious denizens have fallen into a soothing, almost comforting sort of regime. Our nano-photon projectors successfully diffuse Galerius' light and help to control the worst excesses of the natives but the same cannot be said for the greed of men! Every few days they appear, these pathetic excuses for mankind, these serpentine pirates. At first, they appeared to threaten our very existence but then our scientists harnessed the symbiotic radiation from our star to shield our domes; supplemented as needed by standard armour panels when they rarely break through its protective barrier. Repair technology initially proves costly and unnecessary. So it has gone... But then, these scum seem to ever increase in numbers as our settlement survives and begins to thrive. The settlement has slowly expanded until now it has reached the heady heights of five inter-connected domes. And now we must sell our precious ores to afford repair tech as the threat gathers in greater numbers. One can only hope we will resist these parasites as our settlement grows further ....
