Submit a Location Bio Description (On-Going)

Post by Walhabie »

With planet descriptions being place back into the game I've decided to hold a monthly competition to fill in the descriptions of over 600 locations that are lacking one.

How to Enter your Bio Description:

Planet/Station:
System:
Galaxy:

Description/Bio:

Please be sure to check your grammar, provide more then a few word description/bio (will ignore any that are less then one paragraph long), no cursing, no HTML links, no colored text... in general follow the rules laid out by Coops in this post --> The Bio Returns

Rewards for Submissions:
  • For each submission/per month, you will get a 500 fuel ticket added to your account. (maximum of 2 submissions per month-will get this)
  • Each month I will select a bio description that best describes the location or that I find beats out all the other descriptions.
  • It maybe possible that no reward will be giving out if all the submissions do not meet the criteria, so be sure to write a good one.
  • The winner for each month will get a item from the Core Exiles Store worth up to £15.00
  • All submissions must be posted here, and will be judged at the end of the Month. Any uncontested submissions posted after the 15th of each month will roll over to next months competition to prevent last minute submissions to go uncontested.
Note, staff, other than myself will be allowed to submit bio descriptions and I will edit and correct or refine the requirements for the descriptions as I see fit. You are responsible for finding the location that needs a bio description and if you select one that has one already your submission will be rejected. I will edit your post and add to the bottom of the post when your submission has been excepted and you have been sent your 500 fuel ticket. At the end of each month I will announce the winner.

Good luck and enjoy the game and event.

Maxima Port, Cubin, Furnace

Maxima Port (formerly known as Starbase-62) was built as small outpost for servicing Nebula mining vessels. Soon recreation facilities were improved, including many bars and large Concert Hall for 740 guests.

Station name was changed after modernization, by Cuauhtemoc Ramahandran, inventor of Wrestling Races (mix of martial arts and jet-pack racing. Now banned by all civilized governments and few others). Large stands were constructed on top of station, covered by huge dome from transparent aluminum. Around it, 3D racing track was designed, with many hard, often sharp obstacles. After delegalization of races cupola has been used as restaurant, and obstacles were replaced by asteroid chunks.

Recently Nebula miners were replaced by military due to AI threat. Maxima Port was partially mobilized, its cultural facilities were converted into operational rooms for Coalition forces. Due to heavy military presence and extensive training operations illegal Wrestling Races are hosted bimonthly only. Each spectactor is given 10000 cr fine, which entitles to five meal dinner, few souvenirs and photo with winner (if any).

Planet Xenon, System Vorkutal, Furnace

Vorkutal (formerly known as Vorkuta-L) was once system with one planet, Perseph, and two jumpgates. Second belonged to mysterious Vorkuta Gate System, spanning through 12 systems, from Vorkuta-A (now Vorkuta) to Vorkuta-L. 53 years ago mysterious planet emerged from Vorkuta Gate, causing unstability and subsequent collapse all Gate System. Released energy sterilized entire star systems.

Mysterious planet was extremely hot, shined green from ionized inert gases, and was called Xenon. Its temperature felt into habitable zone in mere two years. Extremely fast cooling rate suggests small Gate remnants located inside planet were active and vented excess heat into hyperspace. Exact mechanism is a mystery. Many scientific groups investigate such strange effect, hoping to discover way to create artificial Jump Gates. No positive findings were reported, but few missing teams were close to discover mystery.

Due to rapid cooling rate planetary crust is under great stress. Earthquakes are so common that Anvil Bank insurance policies don’t cover landings on Xenon. There is no native life, but all plants and animals are highly invasive species, from all galaxies, including Livor Fleas and Magellan Acid Frogs.

PS. If it is explored planet (see bug report 04539) one should add one-two sentences about chief explorer. In fact, list of fully explored locations with Chief Explorers should be attached to first post :)

Nanoo, Mork System, Furnace

Located on the dead end system of Mork, Nanoo is a watery planet with little to none local wildlife. After its exploration was completed by Gal-Fed, it was determined that there where no useful resources to be extracted, and thus remained uninhabited.
Lately, it won certain notoriety after settlements were allowed on its surface, which attract local miners as well as pirate fighters, due to its low law level.

GSV-VEN-02, Venara, Sphere

GSV-VEN-02 is one of those planets on the edge of settled space that are usually only visited by a few explorers, miners, and people who would rather not discuss past... indiscretions... with GalFed officials.
Fortunately for the small population spread out over about a dozen towns on the planet's main continent, GSV-VEN-02 is rich enough in resources to make extracting them viable, which means assorted mining and trade consortiums have begun to hire mercenaries to keep the peace (such as it is). Life on the planet still has a definite frontier feeling, but it is nowhere near as dangerous as it was only a few years ago.
In fact, the local security level has improved sufficiently for the Federation of Mining to open a new sattelite office just last year. If this trend continues, GSV-VEN-02 might become one of the richer planets in this part of space. It might even become important enough to warrant a "real" name...

Hope, Grozny, Furnace

The planet Hope is one of those rare planets that are almost ideally suited for human colonisation, with large bodies of water, a comfortable temperature range and (probably most important) no hostile flora or fauna. The one drawback (at least according to GalFed officials) is that the system is claimed by the Confederation, which has a strong military presence in the area. Independent pilots typically simply deal with the usual customs inspections (which would be just as annoying in GalFed territory) and mostly stay out of politics.

The planet was named by the first settlers to illustrate their hopes of finding a peaceful world where they could live without having to worry about alien invasions, rogue A.I.s, megalomaniacal space pirate 'kings' and similar surprises one often finds when exploring space. And for the most part, this dream has come true. The local officials are no more corrupt than those elsewhere, the Confed military keeps the space lanes reasonably safe and occasional visits by 'free traders' offer a little excitement now and then.

Planet/Station: Wintermute
System: Riangulum
Galaxy: Furnace

Description/Bio:
Wintermute is dominated by plant like organisms which resemble fungi and mold. These organisms were named the Fungi-Mold by the original explorers. The Fungi-Mold are the dominant life on this planet and grow fast and wide, with many different shapes, sizes and textures. Due to the heavy concentration of spores in the atmosphere the planet often appears to be an arid wasteland. Once on the surface, travelers are amazed to find they are walking on a carpet of lush flora.

When nutrients are scarce, these organisms take what they need, whenever they need it, from wherever they can. This will include any organic matter which it touches. Trees, bushes, and animals cannot exist due to the ability of the Fungi-Mold to consume all organic matter. Never touch the ground with your bare hand, the Fungi-Mold may desire it more than you do.
