Here is my October Submission:

Planet/Station: Nemesis
System: Gatchina
Galaxy: Furnace

Description/Bio:
While mining asteroid field FU35, Captain Nehemiah Sparks hit a pocket of Necrovium Gas which damaged his ship and forced him to land on Nemesis. Once down he completed the survey of this planet and filed his report with Confed. Below is an exert from his final report.

… Nemesis has a unique ecological system in which very few predators exist. Because of this fact, the plants and animals have very little defense mechanisms in place. Resources are plentiful and the plant life is editable. The metabolism of the animal life is not compatible with human biology and cannot be eaten. The Valog, which seem to be a cross between a turtle and armadillo has one profound benefit. If you grind their shells and bones into a powder and mix it with Dyzalithiaum Fuel, it becomes a pliable paste. This paste when dried, is as hard as combat body armor. After three years of making repairs, I lifted off from the surface and rejoined humanity.

Geistware Was the winner for September as Drawn by Walhabie.

Planet/Station: Wintermute
System: Riangulum
Galaxy: Furnace

Description/Bio:
Wintermute is dominated by plant like organisms which resemble fungi and mold. These organisms were named the Fungi-Mold by the original explorers. The Fungi-Mold are the dominant life on this planet and grow fast and wide, with many different shapes, sizes and textures. Due to the heavy concentration of spores in the atmosphere the planet often appears to be an arid wasteland. Once on the surface, travelers are amazed to find they are walking on a carpet of lush flora.

When nutrients are scarce, these organisms take what they need, whenever they need it, from wherever they can. This will include any organic matter which it touches. Trees, bushes, and animals cannot exist due to the ability of the Fungi-Mold to consume all organic matter. Never touch the ground with your bare hand, the Fungi-Mold may desire it more than you do.

November Submission:

Planet/Station: Herennius
System: Epsilon
Galaxy: Furnace

Description/Bio:
Herennius was discovered by Captain Kristy Powers while on an assignment from Catlow Industries. Herennius is a lush tropical planet whose indigenous species are insects. The distribution is 28% airborne, 58% land based and 14% amphibious. A unique characteristic of these insects is that they never prey on their species within the same habitat. As an example, Airborne insects never attack each other, they band together to hunt land base or amphibious insects.
The survey crew that followed the discovery of the planet noted that as long as they were on explorer rations, the insects ignored them completely. As they began consuming the indigenous fruits, berries and nuts, the insects began biting and stinging the explorers relentlessly. After returning to the rations for 10 days, the insects began ignoring the explorers and protective gear was not necessary.
While visiting Herennius, if you consume the local vegetation, you will be placed on immediate quarantine for the protection of those around you.

December 2017 Submission

Planet/Station: Starbase-10
System: Likuruo
Galaxy: Furnace

Description/Bio:
Following the destruction and salvaging of a raid in system Likuruo, retired Admiral John “Papa” Johns purchased the hull from Gal-Fed and began converting it into a station. After the hull was patched and the bulkheads installed he farmed out various sections to any individual who would setup shop and begin conducting business at the station. As always Joe’s Commodities Market was the first to request permission to begin buying resources from the commercial store on the station. Following the first wave of prospective businesses looking to set up shop, “Papa” decided to open a Player Emporium so that small business owners could sell their crafted wares. The big coup came when the negotiation of a new Wesbec Trade Office was completed and opened within the first six months of the station’s operation. Within the first 12 months several pirate bases have flown into the system to acquire new recruits. “Papa” contacted several active and retired officers to police the area and to decommission the pirate bases. To assist these captains with salvage activities he funded a Commercial Store Transport Service so that the captains could transfer salvage to their location of choice during salvage missions.

January 2018 Submission
Planet/Station: Artemis
System: Pandora
Galaxy: Furnace

Description/Bio:
Artemis is a relatively large planet with a small molten core. It is covered with many lakes and one huge canyon. The geological record for this planet suggests that this 100 kilometer wide and 350 kilometer deep canyon was cut by a glancing blow from a quantum singularity which struck the planet after life on the planet had developed. The energy from this event caused the formation of heaver elements that make this planet resource rich.

Due to lack of interest in this on going competition we are closing it down. Thanks for all the descriptions that were provided. It helps to bring life to the CE galaxy. You can always submit descriptions to me or Coops and we will review them and add them when we have time.
