Two events, one good one bad. same first paragraph.
Planetary Exercises.(good)
Prereq: offensive, defensive and Ground Support weapons

Captain, our defense teams took part in annual planetary exercises. I know cost of ammunition, but they say “'The more you pay in training, the less you pay after combat”. Here is official report from SYSDEFCOM to you:

From SYSDEFCOM to General %PlayerName. Top Secret. Top Priority.General, Performance of your units was outstanding. Yours boys were second to none in all exercises. In simulated Combat they were able to destroy Kennedy class cruiser “Rhabarbarum” before it break through shields. Also Marines sneak attack poses little threat to your staff. Please accept my congratulations. There is traditional small Cup for best defended settlement on planet, It is yours, Captain! Good luck next Year!

Captain! We got a parcel from SYSDEFCOM. There is huge golden cup. Yuck, it is brass. But this gem looks unusual… I wonder how valuable it is… Ooh, and few crates of Tauros, famous Rum from Spiritus! It seems “Rhabarbarum” crew send small prize to victors. It’ll be happy night in barracks.

Morale ++, UN Gemstone to Secure Storage,
Planetary Exercises.(bad)
Prereq: lack of offensive or defensive or Ground Support weapon.

From SYSDEFCOM to General %PlayerName. Top Secret. Top Priority.General, Performance of your units was awful. Your forces failed miserable in all possible ways. Lack of discipline was clearly visible. You don’t have chance against single fighter, nor dozen guys armed with swords and bows. Your defence is weakest on planet. Please taka my advice, reinforce it before pirates found your settlement.

Oooops, Captain, it seems we are not the best this time. Don’t be angry, but those savings were your idea. I’d like to remind you that worst settlement have to pay for banquet and closing ceremony. It is no cheap thing.

Morale--, money--

Another event for Ground support weapon :)
Feint Attack
Prereq – not full HP

Captain, it’s over! Our Defences withheld, Pirates fled in Disarray. Our damages are not very serious, few light wounded. Our farmers are happy; crops will have increased iron levels. No hot water till tomorrow morning, all energy go to shields. We should announce “Week of Fish” – one bomb hit north fishpond. Pirates won’t back for some time, we have victory party, as usual. Military personnel is on leave, so I dispatched a lot of drinks.

Great Party, Captain. Don’t you think that last attack was kind of strange? Pirates retreated really fast, we didn’ t inflict much damage to them. … Weak morale? Yes probably, I cannot remember their success. Let’s drink!

Captain! Our Radars Show many contacts! Bandits Approach from moon! Attention! All Personnel! Incoming Bandits! Red Alert! Red Alert! Battle stations!

Reward: Not reward, just another Pirate Attack, could be even 1h after recent one!

(short-term bad damage, maybe some good long-term bump to research)

The Midas Touch

That startup corporation promised to bring "Innovation To Your Station" by developing and manufacturing the latest, greatest versions of Midas pods. Indeed! Last week a combination of infernally hot weather and a random burst of cosmic radiation somehow convinced a warehouse full of state-of-the-art Midas pods to work together, creating a single huge repair drone. Fortunately the settlement's emergency bulkheads held when the rapidly expanding mega-drone ruptured two exterior walls.

Scientists were able to stabilize the mega-drone, but it will just barely fit into the main cargo bay of the Gal-Fed troop transport dispatched to take it off your hands. Hope Gal-Fed arrives before the local pirates realize seventeen million would completely repair the most massive RAID!

(good)

Music Under No Stars

The Anvil Philharmonic's universe-wide tour has come to your peaceful settlement, one night only. Thousands surround the outdoor stage. The moons and stars are shining, the weather is perfect, and the music is beautiful in spite of the peculiar percussion section. Then the sky blacks out! Then you black out.

Weeks later, after all the chaos and investigations and formal apologies to the orchestra, the inevitable report is issued. It claims that an opaque planet-sized mass approached your settlement at near-light speed, stopped abruptly just kilometers above and zapped the entire settlement with... um, something. Although the settlement and the populace appear undamaged, UFO chasers and religious groups of all sorts rush to your settlement to "see" for themselves.

(small bad)

Famous avant-garde chef Julio Child now owns and operates the fanciest restaurant on your settlement's promenade. He's hosting a 14-course dinner at the grand opening tonight, featuring many of your favorite ingredients.

Whilst talking to himself -- "It is hard to imagine a civilization without chocolate-covered onions." -- Julio somehow confuses the rose water with the Davorian ale. Add one open flame... yes, that's Julio's newest delicacy "Verecian Fruit Platter Flambé" ! The kitchen will take just a few days to clean up, but Julio's eyebrows may never grow back.

A Certain Flare.

[Non Asteroid Version]

Well Captain that could have been a lot worse, the local stare suffered an, lets call it, energy fart (I'll give you the technical version when it is your nap time). Fortunately the standardised stasis containers issued for crystal storage held for all ships docked at your settlement.

Unfortunately that dodgy old rust bucket that was trying to negotiate a lower docking fee obviously hadn't fitted the new containers, when the energy wave hit all the crystals in his hold exploded along with the rest of his ship.

However our emergency teams dealt with the falling debris spectacularly well and we suffered nothing more than minimal damage to our HP rating.

Well Captain that could have been worse, it could have been Monday. The local stare suffered an, lets call it, energy fart (I'll give you the technical version when it is your nap time). Unfortunately that dodgy old rust bucket that was trying to negotiate a lower docking fee obviously hadn't fitted the new containers, when the energy wave hit all the crystals in his hold exploded along with the rest of his ship. Even more unfortunately all the crystals in the asteroid field also exploded causing meteors and rogue asteroids to flood the system.

Our emergency and defence teams dealt with the falling debris spectacularly well and we suffered no direct hits by anything of significant mass, however a lot of small stuff got through, the overall effect was like being on the receiving end of a large pirate attack. On the brighter side we might still pickup a lot of salvage and rescue missions from ships in system at the time, Coops alone knows what happened to any miners in the field at the time it lit off.

Rexx wills it!

Well, captain, that was a sight you won't see often. Hundreds of marauders gathering for a crusade "to spread the Word and Love of Rexx in every galaxy" (and yes, you could hear the capitals in their sermons) before setting out from this very settlement all at the same time. Most of your staff was only too happy to see them go - one can stand having a bunch of certified lunatics around only for so long, after all.

I wasn't too sure about your idea of allowing them to land at all - you know how often your great plans actually work out - but it wasn't nearly as bad as I feared. The staff had to suffer through several days of crazy cultists running around trying to convert people, but the security forces generally managed to keep a lid on things. Barely.

Still, the time these "crusaders" spent here praying to Rexx while getting his portrait painted onto their ships certainly didn't hurt our finances. There seems to be money in religion. And you always wanted to have your own cult of... ahem... anyway, as I was saying, they left quite a few credits here, but unfortunately research activities slowed down a little due to our scientist constantly being approached by wild-eyed people handing them leaflets and offering to "baptise" them.

Black Pyjamas vs. Pirates

I thought you'd finally gone completely over the edge, captain, when you hired those "defense specialists" wearing black pyjamas. Always tiptoeing around, throwing smoke bombs every time they exited a room and nearly coming to blows over some ancient animated series about some guy wearing an orange pyjama.

Your security forces filed several complaints, by the way. Seems they didn't exactly appreciate people constantly sneaking up on them. Fortunately, there were no serious incidents since most of your staff seemed to enjoy the situation and started running around in pyjamas, too. You humans confuse me a great deal sometimes, you know.

However, when a large pirate fleet appeared in orbit, those "defense specialists" (no, I WON'T call them anything else!) jumped to the guns and blew the attacking pirates out of existence in record time. The last comm from the remaining pirates I intercepted before they jumped out of system said something about "damn monkey ninjas always ruining our fun". I reviewed the security tapes. There were no monkeys anywhere on your settlement at any time... Anyway, our people managed to retrieve a large cache of valuable resources from the remains of the pirate fleet.

Betrayal, murder and lollipops

Captain, wake up! Wake up! WAKE UP ALREADY!

Just get up! Captain, we have a situation on the promenade. Apparently, there was this guy hunting his "nemesis" on the promenade. He shrieked something about a betrayal, murder and stolen lollipops (don't look at me, I have it on tape if you'd care to see for yourself) and started to fire his gun in random directions. Fortunately, he was an even worse shot than you and your security forces reacted promptly, so there were no injuries to innocent bystanders.

Still, the incident requires a complete security check by the local authorities (and your presence, why else would I bother trying to wake you?), so our Union office will be closed temporarily, meaning that any current passengers will have to be transferred to other offices at our cost. I'll forward all further complaints to you. Why? Because you're the captain and I'm just an "annoying A.I.". That's why.

- settlement credits
- passengers in Union office are re-rolled
*This event obviously requires an active Union office and the passenger re-roll is actually an idea of an event effect that good be great (if your office is full of aliens and the re-roll exchanges most or even all of them for humans) or very bad (if all your human passengers are exchanged for aliens).*
With great power comes the great realization that you can have just as much fun simply annoying each other.

Event Type : Neutral
Event Title : Temporal Mechanics
Precondition : Having a new alien generator in your settlement installed.

Captain, there seems to have been some type of anomaly on one of your settlements.
As work was being done trying to install a new alien generator something went catastrophically wrong.

Nothing damaging happened but it seems time advanced rapidly for everyone in the settlement, about a month's worth actually.

The generator was eventually installed without problems with the help of Naristro engineers and you received a boost to your settlement's production and income for the timejump duration!

Settlement Production : (x30 times current daily income)
Settlement SRP : (x30 times current daily income)
Settlement Morale : -30%
Event Type : Good
Event Title : Burried Ship
Precondition : Having a lvl 7 settlement and University building.

Captain, as your engineers and work crews were expanding your settlement they uncovered what appears to be an ancient crash site.

The ship seems like it came from the Expanse as it still has exotic cargo from that region inside.
The remaining hull and systems are being analyzed at your University for any lost technology.

Settlement Morale : +5%
Settlement Resources : (+Expanse resources?)
Event Type : Bad
Event Title : Promenade Brawl
Precondition : (Low staff?)

Captain, it's been brought to my attention that there was a major altercation in one of your settlements.
When a group of Verec-per raiders entered your settlement for some R&R another group of raiders immediately attacked them on sight.

There was a brutal period of fighting and security was having a hard time keeping them apart.
Eventually when the dust settled the damage done was quite high.

You need to hire more personel to prevent this type of thing in the future.

Settlement Funds : -50,000
Settlement Morale : -10%
Event Type : Good
Event Title : Assasination Plot
Precondition : RAID in system.

Captain, it seems a local pirate lord and some of his henchmen were arrested in one of your settlements for plotting to kill you when you arrived there.

The pirate boss is mad that you rejected his bribe to sell his stolen merchandise in your settlement.

Settlement Security is handing him over to a Gal-Fed system patrol for interrogation and prosecution.
It seems he also had a bounty on his head which will be sent to you.

Settlement Funds : +20,000
Settlement Morale : +2%
Event Type : Very Bad
Event Title : A.I Infiltration
Precondition : Nebula in system.

Captain, one of your settlements has been sabotaged and come under attack while trying to repair the damage.

A prototype A.I android had entered the settlement under an assumed identity and proceeded to bypass all our security measures until it reached the Planetary Defense System and blew itself up.

Soon afterwards a swarm of A.I ships came to attack the settlement while our defenses were down.
The fight was short and almost destroyed the settlement hadn't it been for the courageous efforts of a local A.I Coalition Task Force coming to our aid.

Settlement Funds : -500,000
Settlement HP : -80%
Settlement Shield : -100%
Settlement Morale : -50%
Event Type : Very Good
Event Title : Trade Hub
Precondition : None.

Captain, a merchant group has decided to use one of your settlements as their base of operations in the pursuit of profit.

A new trade guild has been born on your land and as such you are entitled to some of their income and goods.

It is a boon to any settlement to have a trade guild operating in their midst.

Settlement Funds : +100,000
Settlement Morale : +5%
Settlement Resources : (+random fabricated goods?)
Event Type : Good
Event Title : Celebrations
Precondition : Festive Period.

Captain, as various crews of miners and haulers come home to our settlements to spend their time with their families during this festive occasion it is traditional for settlement owners to organize parties for the enjoyment of all.

During these events it is common for the people to send you Festive Items as a sign of appreciation.

Sometimes you don't know what to do with all these boxes of gifts piling up in your office.

Settlement Morale : +10%
Settlement Resources : (+random festive gifts?)
Event Type : Good
Event Title : Cleaning Up
Precondition : None.

Captain, as your port workers were making room for new cargo they discovered some forgotten goods and items in the warehouses.

So far they've found several crates of unknown origin and when they opened them they found raw materials and some high tech equipment that could fetch a nice price.

Anchor Burst (bad event for settlement with anchor gates on their System.)

Captain, this is bad the anchor gate within our system malfunction and exploded causing Starship currently traveling through the gate to be blown into pieces.

As of this moment, a lot of Starship and the Anchor gate debris had been colliding in our settlement. These debris had hit some of our vital buildings we use for our defenses putting the settlement under a big compromise, if those pirate chooses to attack now.

We need to prioritize repairing those buildings ASAP or a much larger problem might present itself if we ignore the damages we suffered from this tragic accident.

Road to Gold (good event)

Our representative for the Starship Sniping Competition in the upcoming Olympics did not passed the qualifying rounds. But they were chosen as a wild card and was given a chance to compete among the best Starship Snipers in the seven galaxy.

With that being said, we need to increase the budget allocation for our Starship Sniping Team for their training and facilities they need to prepare for the Olympics. This means credits from our settlement's fund.

Don't worry about the credit loss. We will inspire a lot of our citizens just knowing they have their very own homegrown team to support in the Olympics, not to mention if our team do good or much better take home the gold medal. Treat this as an investment to rather than an expense.
