Genesis Project - Confirmed!

Post by Gus Givens »

The closed door meetings at Kelsey in Cinq Port broke up on Wednesday and its taken a few days for Official word to filter down to the news networks. We had the blanket ban on reporting further news on the Genesis Project removed and we are now free to report to you the latest news.

In a surprise docket sent out to all the news networks this morning, it would appear that the Coalition has pretty much folded to the will of the commercial and industrial conglomerates and corporations. It was feared that the Coalition would end up in control of the Genesis Project and that the planets themselves when completed would fall under government control.

But it seems that the corporations have wrestled control from the Coalition over construction and ownership, and offered to cover 50% of the material construction costs in each case. The coalition did however add a caveat that the Genesis Devices themselves must remain under the control and safety of the Coalition military.

At this time hundreds of locations are being scouted for Five primary starting points for the Genesis Project. Lt Commander Cobraaus has been short listed to oversee the collection and construction phase on behalf of the Coalition military whilst several small defense fleets are being gathered and resupplied at Mc'Alisters Ship Yards in Feris.

It would appear that the Coalition have agreed, at least in principle, that the planets created by the Genesis Project will not fall under the governmental control of any one faction or political body. Instead those that work towards the completion of the project will earn themselves a points based system of land ownership.

The data docket sent over is very light on this last section. Other than to point out that what you put in is what you will get out. These days all the know planets are owned by one government or another, so this really does hark back to the early days of exploration with Captains staking a claim to a patch of land and calling it 'Home'.

It is projected that the survey ships will return by early next week and come the 22nd Five System will be chosen to be the first to get their own Genesis Project.
