Explorer's League

Post by SpaceBucks »

Hello One and All,

I know there used to be a thread for Exploring and Scavenging, but I have not been able to find it.

My Explorer's League faction XP is 101,900 (a full fledged Derelict Scavenger,) and I would like to move up the totem pole to a better T2 or even a T3 derelict scanner, along with a bigger docking collar. I also just hit Level 61.

My questions:

How much longer until I hit Derelict Specialist [XP wise,] so I can fit the Universal Collar? Or should I just get the Medium, if it is too far away?

Who can craft the T3 or T2 scanners and Med. and Universal docking collars, and how expensive are they?

Is there a tutorial that lists all the facts? In the FAQs the exploring Q&A no longer functions.

Any assistance would be awesome.

Thank you -- SpaceBucks

Docking Collar - Medium : Explorers League Faction Req : Derelict Trainee : Captain Level 20
Docking Collar - Universal : Explorers League Faction Req : Derelict Specialist : Captain Level 35
To fully utilize the fun of exploring derelicts you will require certain tools.

A Grav Sled - For hauling back loot you cant carry.
A Gyro Spanner Tool used for mechanical actions.
A Diagnostic Sensor used for diagnostic actions.
A Electrical Scanner used for electrical actions.

The above tools are only required to fully leverage the most from a derelict. These items are engineered and some Blue prints will be readily available in stores whilst others you will have to locate whilst exploring.

Derelicts come in many shapes and sizes. They are classified in a Range from A1 to C10. A1 being the smallest of the type and C10 being large structures like battleships or large orbital stations.

Derelicts can be located in almost any place where humanity has traveled, although you will require the correct scanning equipment to locate them. There are currently three scanners available to the public.

These are player crafted and range from the smallest Derelict System Scanner T1 to the largest Derelict System Scanner T3. Each scanner has the ability to locate derelicts within its scanner class.

The T1 will scan for derelicts from A1 to A10.
The T2 will scan for derelicts from A1 to B10.
The T3 will scan for derelicts from A1 to C10.

Note: These scanners use 5 fuel to activate and scan a location of space. They cannot be used in orbit of a jump-gate.

Grav sleds enable you to collect and return resources back to your ships cargo hold. Larger Grav sleds will also enable you to remove larger items later when you access B1-C10 size derelicts.

There are various other tools which performs various tasks whilst exploring. You will require a Mechanical, Electrical and Diagnostic set if you wish to recover High Tech loot. As more is added to exploring derelicts more tools will be released.

Tools are engineered using Blue Prints, you can engineer them or purchase them from fellow players who have crafted them already.

A Space Suit and an Oxygen supply. These items can be purchased initially from a Sven or Boris store and later you can craft them if you have the schematics and blue prints.

Then you will need a Docking Collar. This is a special item and is a player crafted special. They come in three sizes Docking Collar - Small, medium and Universal.

You will require Explorer League Faction rank to fit anything past the initial Docking Collar - Small.

To start Planetary Exploration you need few items:

Required Items

1) First of all, you need to be at least at level 15. Once you achieve that level, go to Ron Micah on Presidium in Palolon and do ALL of his missions. When you've completed the series, he will give you a Planetary Landing Module which will enable you to land on planets which have no docking rings.
2) You need an ECO-UPV buggy. It is crafted by fellow players and fits into Special slot of your Ship.
3) You need Space Suit. Basic one can be bought from Sven Barter store, more advanced are Engineered. Suits fit in your Personal Loadout slot.
4) You need also Exploration Deploy Packs (EDK). Exploration Packs are EXPENDABLE. These come in three grades according to the danger level of the planet being explored. Exploration packs are crafted items (in batches of 10), and you need one for each exploration, that is 50 one exploration day.
5) Some Exploration events can hurt you, so you need Medkits. Basic one can be bought from Sven Barter store, more advanced are Engineered. Medkits fit in your Personal Loadout slot. MedKits are EXPENDABLE, you can use one 10 times and you need replacement.
6) After some explorations you’ll need ECO Repair Packs (for example Planetary Vehicle Kit Atlas). During Exploration there are few events, which damage your Buggy. To fix it you need repair kits. Beware, If durability of your ECO falls to zero you’ll LOSE YOUR BUGGY!
Don't start a derelict scan, then remember you need to check messages or do something else and exit the screen. At 5 fuel a pop you don't want to waste them.

I can craft you your Stuff, if you have resources :) I suggest look on kubaf site http://schembrowser.16mb.com/ (remember to mark reduction matrix 4)
You need slightly more than 850k faction to equip Medium collar (exact number is in in faction data dump thread). I have 1.9M faction XP and I'm Derelict Tech (not yet specialist)

850K to fit a medium.? Damn it thats excessive im only on 74k and I live in derelicts. Something must be amiss with the exp I am getting 500 exp a trip it will take 5 years before I reach 850k lol :D . Or am I missing something like a fitting? Collar and derelict scanner is all you need to go aboard is that correct? Plus of course the personal load out items scanner diagnostic and weapons , oxygen and space suits. I hardly get any explorers league exp. just the odd yellow badge for 500 exp every mission. but I don't know where all the exp I get from hacking killing and scavenging goes. Certainly not on my explorers league faction standing.

I feel planetary exploration gives little more, With Expanse MEchs even more, but I have no numbers to support this feeling.

Thank you one and all for sounding off.

Without knowing how the named levels run makes it very difficult to figure out when the different devices kick in the game for use.
By the name, one would consider "Derelict Trainee" to be an early in the XP naming that one missed by not noticing, but it seems by pikoliniantia's account that a "trainee" is much further down the road... This is why one needs to ask questions. :)
Thank you for the offer pikoliniatia, but I think I am gravely behind on the needed XP.
I agree with scumbusta, the XP amounts seem ludicrously high for an activity that does not garner much XP at all. Even if you do planetary exploration and haul in the artifacts by the hundreds, it will take years to get to 850,000 faction XP, let alone 1.9 million.
At 500 faction XP per artifact, I can guaranty that boredom will set in way before I ever see 1.9 million XP.

Now I am sad. :(
