Mech Combat screen access

This is intended to give a brief explanation of a matter that has slightly confused some vi members, (particularly who saw the entry on audiogames.net).
Firstly, the ship to ship combat screen is absolutely, completely, utterly and unreservedly accessible! no questions asked. You will have no access trouble in completing any of the newbie missions that involve combat, or indeed any combat related missions in the game, (I did attempt! to make this point clear on the audiogames.net ce page, but still a couple of people have mailed me in slight confusion).
The inaccessible combat screen is that used for mech combat, ie, what is done once you've gone to a mech assembly plant, built a mech (probably from parts you recieved as a prize in chat), and used the "view mechs" option in the dropdown to deploy it in one of the combat sectors.
This screen was recently updated to use ajax and graphics and will not work with any screen reader.
However, Coops has left the older version of the screen that uses purely text output up and running especially for the bennifit vi captains. You can find that accessible version of the screen On this link or by just using the "view full output" link at the very top of the mech combat screen (that link is quite normal text).
Hopefully this will clear up any confusion over the combat screen issue, and show that no, there is no problem with any combat in the game at all.
