Manufacturing NPC Missions - Primer

Post by Historical Archives »

First off...
This is a Primer and NOT a full guide. It will outline what to expect and what not to expect. Make of this what you will, but its added to give you a leg up and understand the basics of Manufacturing NPC Missions for C.A.M.P.

Manufacturing NPC
You will find these have started migrating to the live server. They are likely to move around a little but you should be able to track them down without to much trouble. The only Galaxy they are not in is the Expanse at this time. (that will be addressed in time)

Mission Style
These are Agents of C.A.M.P. As such they are there to offer work to those of you interested in crafting. These missions are similar in a way to Courier Missions, in that you will be offered a mission for items to be delivered to a remote location. The difference is that you will be expected to Craft the items first.

Schematic bestowal & removal
Should you choose to accept a Manufacturing mission the NPC in question will add the Schematic to your database. Once you have completed the mission it will be removed. It will also be removed if you abort or fail to complete the mission within its time frame.

Build Limited
To add to this the items required are NOT ones you can buy the schematics from in a Store anywhere else. These schematics create proprietary technology. Each schematic comes with a build limit built-in. This means you can only craft as many items as are required.

Mission Failure
The Agent will expect you to source the resources, build the items and then deliver them. You can be assured they take a very dim view if you abort a mission or fail to deliver.

As this is proprietary technology any left in your stores when aborting or failing to deliver will be confiscated. So consider this when making a choice about working for them.

This means don't take a mission unless you are sure you can complete it within the time frame and trying to trade or sell part mission items whilst not blocked won't help you in any fashion other than to lose you faction points.

Missions Success
Each mission is balanced against the base value of the resources required to build them plus a percentage. On top of this a delivery bonus is included based on amount and distance to delivery from mission start.

You will also get C.A.M.P & Courier Faction XP for completing the mission. Like courier missions these are completed by landing at the mission destination and then using the top right drop down 'Active NPC Missions' section.

Schematic Preview
Whilst in the NPC's office you can review the mission details and also review the actual schematic. We have added the schematics Production and Manufacture Skill requirements on that screen. Take note!

NPC Mission Schematic Database
We have populated the Mission Database with a selection of new schematics. These are locked by Captain level, so a low level captain won't be asked to build a high level item etc. Higher level captains will find the selection the NPC has to choose from widens as does their level. The mission process does NOT take into account your crafting skills that is up to you as you see fit. Only take missions you have the skills to do or know you can buff into.

A Few common issues we foresee

Q: I took the mission where is the Schematic
A: Manufacturing Missions are at this point in time limited to Module crafting, so you will find it in Modules. If it has not reached its build limit it will highlight itself for you.

Q: I built half the items then traded them to a friend and now can't complete the mission. Can I fix this?
A: You didn't read the whole Primer did you :) Ask for them back otherwise no, you cannot complete the mission. You will need to abort it.

Q: Where has the Schematic gone ?
A: If you Abort or fail to deliver in time the Schematic will be removed automatically.

Q: I built some of the items then aborted it - where have the part built items gone?
A: The items you built were proprietary technology, they were removed when the mission was aborted or failed. Do not attempt missions you cannot complete within the time frame and do not abort unless you're absolutely sure.
