Hello fellow spud!
Welcome to the wonderful universe of Core Exiles. As Madmaxx said, don't be a stranger in chat and take some time to read the forums, specifically the new player guides sections.

Re: Hello
Hi Captain Mike!
Welcome to Core Exiles! It's a good game with remarkable freedom for character development. You can truly choose what you want to be in this game, depending upon your talents and your choices. Popular choices for in-game activity include fighter, pirate, trader, explorer, manufacturer, passenger carrier, and so on. However, these are not character classes per se, so that leaves a lot of room for mixing kinds of work. It also makes the game have a lot of complexity and depth, if you choose to play it that way. It's also fun. It's also the kind of game you can set aside for a while and get back to it later, if you choose. Learn the basics of the game by playing the introductory missions.
After you reach level 5 or so, you might want to consider joint a guild. They offer bonuses and mentoring to members. I joined Aesir Guild, and I am pleased with it. Aesir offers 10% bonuses on credits and experience points for contracts, and it has a 50-50 loan program for buying a new ship. If you are interested in Aesir, contact a player named Locknload or another player named King David. Best of luck and enjoy Core Exiles.
